PLC multiage classroom had a very busy afternoon! Some students enjoyed music class working on their recorder with Miss Wehlander or practicing for their concert. Another group of PLC students were in PE playing tag! Students paired up and were 'safe' when they sat with a group, but the next student on the end had to get ready to run!! What a fun and busy afternoon!

Mrs. Budahl's second-grade class embraced being the bean in art today with Mrs. Geist! They explored creating art with different mediums, opting for coffee instead of paint. Each student created their own design, drawing inspiration from the world around them. Way to be a bean and create beautiful art!

Music class magic with Mrs. Zirpel's fourth graders! Today, we turned up the fun with a musical twist on a classic game. Picture this: students singing their hearts out while one brave soul sits in the middle, eyes closed tight. Then, Miss Wehlander, our secret keeper, slips a penny to a lucky participant. Can you guess who it is? With just three tries, the anticipation is palpable! What a harmonious way to sharpen our listening skills and spread some joy!

Mrs. Fossum's Kindergarten class recited a Valentine's Day poem this morning. First, they read it as a poem, and then they sang it to the tune of Jack & Jill! What a fun way to start the day while getting ready to spread love and kindness with a sweet Valentine's poem!

Mrs. Elias's class of 5th graders was learning a very important lesson today in both life and math! Together, they reviewed some questions from yesterday's activity that had stumped many students. They worked together to figure out where they went wrong. While fixing our math problems, we also learned that it's okay to make mistakes and we can learn from them!

Check out what Mrs. Duffy's 5th graders are doing for math! They have been conceptually practicing volume. Today they furthered that understanding into procedural form (finding the area of the base and multiplying it by the height/layers). Students were also working on their computers practicing different mathematical skills to achieve mastery of volume, conversions, operations, and more!

Math time in the multiage classroom consists of learners working through various skills in measurement. Learners work through folders at their own pace to prove their mastery of a given skill! Small groups are also working hard on proving their understanding! There's measuring, data, time, area/perimeter, and even volume ALL going on today!

Let's talk money! Today, the second graders in Miss Bormann's class worked on counting money. Each student had to visit the 'bank' to exchange specific coins to reach the correct amount needed for a group under 42 cents and a group over 73 cents. For instance, if they required 10 pennies, they had to exchange them for a dime at the bank. What a fun, real-world activity to learn about money and value!

The Mitchell Community Scholarship Fund is a 501(c)3 organization created in 2001 and maintained to provide scholarships for every graduating senior from MHS or MCHS who qualify. This fund assists Mitchell’s graduating seniors to attain their goals of continuing educational opportunities and to demonstrate Mitchell’s belief in their youth. The student must attend a postsecondary institution to receive the scholarship money and complete the necessary claim form. A board of directors oversees the efforts, and all monies raised are done through fundraising and special events. Community members and school representatives are members of the board that has no fiscal relationship with the Mitchell School District or Mitchell Christian School. Funds are held and managed by the Mitchell Area Charitable Foundation with 100% of money raised dedicated to scholarship awards.
