Red Ribbon Week is next week, October 24-28. What is Red Ribbon Week? It is an ideal way for people and communities to unite and take a visible stand against substance abuse. Show your personal commitment to a drug-free lifestyle through the symbol of the Red Ribbon. Gertie Belle Rogers will celebrate Red Ribbon Week during the school days of October 24-28. To show our support for being drug free we will celebrate with a different event each day. There will also be a contest each day to see which classroom has the most participation, teachers included! There will be prizes This year’s theme is: CELEBRATE Red Ribbon Week, Not Just for a Week, but for Life! Monday - Outsmart Drugs-Use Your Head! Wear a HAT and your red ribbon (distributed by your teachers). Tuesday - Follow Your Dreams and Be Drug Free! Wear PJs (please keep your stuffed animals at home). Wednesday - Our School is Drug Free! Wear GBR spirit gear or Kernel gear. Thursday - Sock it to Drugs! Wear CRAZY SOCKS Friday - Celebrate Red Ribbon Week, Not Just for a Week, but for Life! Wear RED

Please help GBR Celebrate and honor our veterans this November. I am looking for photos of your loved ones who served (or are serving) in the military. If you would like your loved one to be honored in our library display please send in a photo of your loved one along with their rank, branch in the military and the GBR family members name. I will put them together and add them to our display. You may start sending in at any time. That will give me time to get everything together so that the display will be ready to go up the beginning of November. Students last year were so excited to show off their family members. My wish is for this years display to be even bigger!!

Let’s face it: A banana as a telephone transcends generations, and is classic humor. Although, at lunch in 2022 it is referred to as a banana cell phone. Also, if you’re curious, it does not include a camera, nor can you text.
