Jacobson, Schoenfelder honored as Teacher- and Classified Staff of the Year at MHS

Mitchell High school is a learning environment rich with teachers and classified staff devoted to providing an exemplary education to their students. Thus, being named teacher of the year (TOY) or classified staff member of the year (CSOY) is a significant accomplishment.  This year’s teacher of the year is Melanie Jacobson, a math instructor in her 6th year at MHS.  Mrs. Jacobson is well known for going above and beyond for her math students and debaters. In nominating her, one of her colleagues noted, “Melanie Jacobson is the epitome of an outstanding teacher and co-worker.  Melanie is a creative problem-solver, who is thoroughly organized and genuinely cares about each student she encounters throughout her day.

Though you won’t find the CSOY in the classroom, you will find her, Meagan Schoenfelder, in the front office where she routinely greets students, parents, and others with a professional and positive greeting.  She has worked in the front office as an administrative assistant for just under three years. In her nomination packet, one MHS employee gave her the following compliment:  “Meagan is always friendly, organized, and always two steps ahead when it comes to helping student and staff on a daily basis.”

Congratulations to Mitchell High School’s teacher and classified staff members of 2017-18.
