Briggs win Geography Bee Competition at Mitchell Middle School

A sixth grader winning Mitchell Middle School’s geography bee is a rare occurrence, but Bane Briggs pulled that off this year with his broad understanding and encyclopedic memory of people, places, cultures, and maps.  The competition, held annually at the middle school, is conducted classroom by classroom until grade level winners are reached.  Then the grade level winners go head to head for a school champion.  What’s next for Bane He will complete the online state qualifying test. The test will be scored and ranked with the scores of other students taking the test in South Dakota. The top 100-scoring students will be invited to the State Bee.  A list of qualified students will be posted on each state National Geographic Bee website at
