The Mitchell School District provides high quality education on a personal basis for each of it's K-12 students.  The educational facilities include three elementary schools, a middle school, a senior high, a second chance high, and two rural schools.

Mitchell prides itself in its innovative technology programs throughout the district.  Grades 7-12 have been participating in a 1:1 laptop initiative since 2006.  Each student is provided a laptop computer to use throughout the school year. At the elementary schools, all classrooms are equipped with a SmartBoard.  Teachers at all levels are infusing technology into their curriculum.

The Mitchell Technical Institute is also part of the Mitchell Public School system and enrolls approximately 800 students
