The Mitchell
School District School Board is made up of citizens elected
by voters of the school
district. The five members are elected to three year terms,
and are compensated on a per meeting basis of up to a
maximum of $1,200 per member per year.
The School Board sets
policies by which the school district operates. In addition,
the School Board hires staff to administer these policies. The School Board
must adhere to the boundaries set by the
South Dakota Legislator and the South Dakota Board of
Education.
The School Board is also responsible for selling surplus property for the

During the 2012-13 fiscal year, the Mitchell School Board will meet in regular session, at 5 p.m. , on August 13 & 27, September 10, October 8, November 12, December 10, January 14, February 11, March 11, April 8 & 22, May 13 & 27, June 10 & 24. Meetings are generally held in room 116 at MTI's North Campus though some meetings in early summer and fall are held in the district's various attendance centers.
